5 Things Every Middle School Parent Should Know:

1. Whatever you are trying to shelter your kids from, they’re probably doing it, talking about it or promoting it.
        - Teach your kids to stay away or respond appropriately to things that attack their purity and/or morality, don’t pretend they don’t exist!

2. Your kids might really want you to be a part of their lives, even if it feels like they are pushing you away.
        - I say “might” because unfortunately their are some out there that don’t, but you have a responsibility to do this anyway. An overwhelming majority of kids say their parents are the #1 influence in their lives.

3. Start now getting to know your kids friends.
        - First: these friends may become big influencers (good or bad) in their lives. Second: You have an opportunity to be a Godly example to another kid that may really need it.

4. Encourage your kids to excel in the things of God above anything else!
        - Sure, sports help to build discipline and character. Sure, education is extremely important, but God is the MOST important. If you aren’t already, start a family devotion or bible study once a week. (and stick to it!) It will teach your kids that your family prioritizes the things of God.

5. It’s your house, you pay for the iPhone, you pay for the internet and computer, it’s YOUR responsibility to make sure your kids are using them appropriately.
        - I’m not saying “don’t trust your kids,” but I strongly encourage ACCOUNTABILITY for your kids and YOU!

I know that there is a more than 5 things…if you think of one to add comment and add it.
